We were asked to inspect this property for damp and the owner was concerned over a roof leak due to damp patches in the middle of the ceiling.
The problem was, in fact, mould growth due to condensation, being aggravated by “cold-spots” due to gaps in the loft insulation.
In addition to ensuring that sufficient insulation covers the ceiling we made recommendations to improve ventilation to alleviate moisture build-up.
